Watchmaking design and development workspace

WATCHMAKING · SINCE 2007

One design. Different ways to make it.

Watchmaking is a specialist foundation of AMA. The same design can be engineered through different production architectures according to the brief, specification and budget.

PRODUCTION ARCHITECTURES

One project. Two ways to make it.

AMA develops watch projects through different production architectures, selected according to identity, specification, positioning and budget. Swiss Made production and international assembly are not a hierarchy of quality: they are two different systems, coordinated around the same project.

01 · SWISS MADE

A production architecture built around Swiss origin.

Where a project is specified and marketed as Swiss Made, AMA develops it through Swiss manufacturing partners and structures the project around the applicable Swiss requirements. A Swiss movement on its own does not make a watch Swiss Made.

Design, technical development, manufacturing, assembly and quality-control choices are planned accordingly.

02 · INTERNATIONAL ASSEMBLY

A flexible supply chain, coordinated as one watch.

For selected projects, AMA can combine specialist components from different origins — for example Italian leather straps, Japanese or Swiss movements, and Asian cases or components — with assembly and quality control through selected partners in Hong Kong or Asia.

Japanese movement options may include MIYOTA where specified. The production architecture is chosen around the project, not around a generic hierarchy of “premium” and “standard”.

TECHNOLOGY

01

Automatic

Automatic mechanical watch movement

Mechanical movements for projects where engineering, movement character and watchmaking tradition are central to the brief.

02

Quartz

Quartz watch movement

Reliable and precise solutions for projects where case thickness, practicality, consistency or budget structure make quartz the most appropriate choice.

DEVELOPMENT

The watch is a system.

01

Case & proportions

Diameter, profile, lugs, crown, caseback and bespoke geometry.

02

Dial & identity

Indexes, hands, finishes, typography, brand codes and special details.

03

Movement & components

Automatic or quartz architecture, selected for function, specification and positioning.

04

Strap, packaging & presentation

The project continues through the way the watch is worn, protected, presented and delivered.

NEXT · SWISS MADE

What makes a watch genuinely Swiss Made?

From the movement to casing-up, final inspection and manufacturing-cost origin, Swiss Made concerns the watch as a whole.
