An institutional object has to do more than carry a mark. It must convey belonging, memory and representation in a form that feels appropriate to its context.

The work developed around the Marina Militare Italiana moved across different formats — including coin, crest and representation objects — while maintaining one recognisable symbolic language.

Relief, metal, enamel, proportion, finish and presentation become part of the design itself.

Different formats. One institutional language.

A coin has one scale and one ritual of use. A crest has another. A presentation object may need to live on a desk, in an office or inside a ceremonial context.

The project therefore does not begin from a catalogue. It begins from the meaning of the institution and translates that meaning into the most appropriate physical form.

Representation begins before the object is handed over.
